Yulia Zaitseva to speak on 'Derivations on Toric and Trinomial Algebras'
On November 17, 2025, Yulia Zaitseva, Research Fellow at theLaboratory on Algebraic Transformation Groups, will speak on 'Derivations on Toric and Trinomial Algebras' at the European Non-Associative Algebra Seminar.
Abstract:
A derivation D on an algebra A is said to be locally nilpotent if any element of A is annihilated by some power of D. If A is an algebra of regular functions on an affine algebraic variety X, then locally nilpotent derivations on A correspond to actions of one-parameter unipotent subgroups on X. In turn, actions of tori on X correspond to gradings on A.
I will survey some classification results about homogeneous locally nilpotent derivations on toric varieties and their generalizations.
The event will be held online.
